Yule wins novelty race
Terry Yule, the Hamil-ton-based race caller, looped the field with Jim's Dream, 900 m out to carry on and win the DB Draught Commentators’ Mobile pace at Addington Raceway Jim’s Dream, a three-year-old Farm Timer gelding in Eddie Cowie’s West Melton team, paced the mobile 2600 m in 3:27.2, to beat the Palmerston North caller, Alan Bright, driving Tinka’s Best, by three lengths. Bright gave his drive the run of the race on the outer. Southland’s Dave McDonald, driving On Target, led early, then trailed, and was given every chance but could not quicken in the run home, holding third.
