Emerging Players skittle Emus
After being ahead 143 runs after the first innings, the Canterbury Emerging Players team continued to devastate the New South Wales Emus cricket team at Hagley Oval to bowl it all out for 168. This left Canterbury with only 26 runs to score for victory. Hamish Kember, for the Canterbury side, was the Australian team's downfall. He bowled 19.4 overs, 11 of which were maidens, and he
took eight wickets for 29 runs. The only notable performance from the visiting side was from Mark Grace, who knocked up 68 runs. In its attempt to score the 26 runs for victory, Canterbury lost one wicket and Paul Hartland scored all but one of the runs. Canterbury needed only seven runs after lunch and play finished just after 2 p.m. with the homeside scoring an outright win.
