First for roller hockey women
New Zealand will be represented for the first time in a major international women’s roller hockey competition when a team of 10 contest the Eurocup in Eldingen, West Germany, from May 13 to 15. Although New Zealand has played against Australia, it has never been involved in a series involving other nations. Teams from West Germany, Britain, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands and France
will be among its rivals. The team, which will be managed by Mrs Marlene Lockett (Wanganui), is: Kim Kearns, Betty Dellaway, Lynette Farrell (Hamilton); Mary Froude, Ellen Murray, Michelle Fuller (Papatoetoe); Nancy Cridland (Canterbury); Susie Hirst, Michelle Skinner (Manawatu); Marion Majoribanks (Mangere). Coach: John Maunder (Wainuiomata).
