Extensions to library
Volunteers running the Woolston Library and Canterbury Public Library staff will meet to discuss extensions for the Woolston library. The Christchurch City Council last year turned down a request for funds for an extension to the library to house children’s
services. The council did agree to carry out maintenance on the building. The Woolston Library Committee is angry at what it sees as the council’s reluctance to encourage a flourishing community library.
A long letter, tabled at yesterday’s meeting, asked for council permission for the extensions, which the library committee says would cost the council little or nothing. A meeting will be arranged to discuss the extensions.
