Kiwis in historic cattle drive

PA Wellington Four young New Zealanders are invited to drive cattle along historic Australian stock routes during Australia’s bicentennial celebrations this year.

Touche Ross, an international firm of chartered accountants with offices throughout New Zealand, had announced that it will help four young New Zealanders with superior horse riding skills to take part in drovers’ camps in the Northern Territory. ‘ The four jackeroos and jilleroos, aged between 15 and 18, will be chosen from nominations by pony clubs.

They will join a 375strong contingent of Australians leaving from Darwin, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs to travel along disused stock trails.

Young Britons, Americans and Canadians have also been invited to join the 12-day treks, which will involve mustering and branding cattle at stock stations
