Success for Budd
NZPA-Reuter Oxford, England The former world cross-country champion, Zola Budd — bidding for a place in England’s team at the world championships in March — won her first competitive race of the season on Sunday in 20min 19s. The South African-born Budd, champion in 1985 and 1986, has said she wants to go to the championships in Auckland despite a warning by New Zealand that she will not be welcome and the threat of anti-apartheid demonstrations.
