Smoking, drinking
Sir,—With reference to the article "Case of smoking versus drinking; It’s better to breathe smoke” (January 9), there is no doubt whatsoever that the consumption of excessive amounts of alcohol is injurious to the health of the drinker; and the results to those around the drinker. The same applies to the heavy smoker. Has Sue Hampton not heard of the damage to unborn babies of smoking pregnant women? Passive smokers receive more than minor irritation. However, the whole argument is pointless. Tobacco and alcohol ar«jL. both harmful drugs and
