Cricketers to return

PA Auckland The discarded New Zealand . cricket representatives, Phil Horne and Danny Morrison, will be back in action for Auckland in the three-day Shell Trophy match against Canterbury to begin at Eden Park on Monday.

Horne and Morrison were two. who suffered when the national selectors played their remarkable shuffling game with the New Zealand team in Australia for the one-day international series.

Horne, an opening batsman, was, through a mixture of injury and nonselection, hardly given a chance to show his talents in Australia and he will be particularly anxious to

restake his claim for selection in the side for the home test series against England. Morrison (who replaces his fellow fast bowler, Willie Watson, in the Auckland side after Watson replaced him in Australia) seems assured of a spot in the test team to play England but he will still be anxious to regain his bowling rhythm after struggling a little amid all the hyperbole and frenzy of the one-day series. Morrison, a genuine strike bowler, will give the Auckland attack a big lift. He and Richard De Groen should form an opening attack capable of troubling even the best of the Canterbury batsmen. They will also have for

support theTively medium pace of lan Fisher, who picked up seven wickets in the game against Wellington.

Horne comes into the side in place of the burly opening batsman, Richard Reid, who has made himself unavailable because of business commitments. Hunt’s recall and the inclusion of the offspinner, Martin Bradley (who seems to have recovered from a knee injury), has boosted the squad to 13.
