Farmers hindered

The ability of farming to recover is being seriously hampered by the volatility of the New Zealand dollar, according to the Member of Parliament for Ashburton, Ms Jenny Shipley. It was also hampering
the ability of arable farmers to sell their wheat, grass seed and peas competitively. She said recent wool sales in Christchurch showed that international interest was absent while the high exchange rate removed New Zealand’s competitiveness.
