Stablemates shine

New Wine and Morning Wings, stablemates which are being prepared for Riccarton next week produced two of the sharpest gallops at the track yesterday. The work was largely on the No. 1 grass wide out. New Wine (Mein) ran a solo 800 m in 49.85, the last 600 m in 37.3 s while Morning Wings (Mein) came out later and ran a similar trip in 495. She was disappointing last time out but looks bright enough. Beks caught the eye running 1000 m with Grant Davison up in a comfortable 1:02.7; the closing 800 m in 50.35. The fastest gallop came late in the session when Invitane, an Inviting filly, trained by Tom Lalor, ran a solo 800 m in 48s (35.85) with Lorna Cook up. Other work included:
800 m: Man of Honour 52.65; Biko (Johnson) and Kolraggi (Reid) 525; Mr Magoo (Kerr) 53.45; Pick a Lord (Canning) and Kowhai Glen (Walters) 50.95; Eye Full (Davison) and Peach Melba (Woledge) 52.95; Tapu Tai (Mein) and Team Talk (Pugh) 53.35; Delightful Dame (Boyce) and Southern Mac (Walters) 49.55; Kaoru Brave (Caird) 52.65; Gums a Calling (Davison) 525; Isle of Arran 49.35; Elitist Streak showing out from Swept By, 49.75; Dannick and Our Jean 49.65; Impasha (Williams) heading Extra Smart (Mein) and a Zamazaan two year old 50.85. 600 m: Willybeleica and Ongley (lightweights) 36.75; Sound King (Williams) clear of Saveur and a Gay Apollo colt 36.55; War Hawk half brother to Polacca, and War Hawk half brother to Real Pronto, on terms, 37.85.
