Israel hits Lebanon
NZPA-Reuter Beirut Israeli planes, helicopters and gunboats pounded Palestinian and Druze targets on Saturday night as the Lebanese Army and Druze militia blockaded each other’s ports in a conflict over a stolen helicopter. The police said the Israeli attacks killed at least five people and wounded 11. The raids coincided with a confrontation be-
tween the Druze Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) militia and the Lebanese Army over a helicopter taken by a deserting Air Force pilot. Lebanese troops are blockading all PSP-held ports to force the militia to return the helicopter. The PSP retaliated by announcing a blockade of Christian ports and alerting 5000 fighters in case of an Army attack.
