Flooding in Hawaii
NZPA-Reuter Honolulu Flooding from a New Year’s Day storm in Hawaii forced some 800 stranded people into evacuation centres and caused an estimated SUS2B.S million ($43.6 million) in damage, civil
defence authorities said. Mudslides closed two highways for part of Friday. The heaviest damage was in residential areas of east Honolulu and in the nearby city of Kailua, where overlfowing streams flooded homes and washed away cars.
