Sex-on-floor couple exonerated

NZPA-Reuter Darwin Two Australians who were convicted of offensive behaviour after an off-duty policeman walking his dog watched them having sex on their bedroom floor have been exonerated. The Northern Territory Supreme Court ruled that the behaviour of Iris Wurramura, aged 29, and Steven Pregelj, aged 19, did not constitute a punishable act unless they had meant to be

seen. Justice Phillip Rice said law was not intended to stop sexual intercourse, even if it could be viewed from a street or public thoroughfare. The couple had appealed against a sixmonth good behaviour bond imposed in Darwin Magistrates Court .in January after a complaint by a policeman, Anthony Dyer, a neighbour.
