Defensive driving courses soon
PA Wellington Defensive driving courses would be "up and running again” before Christmas, according to the Under-Secretary for Transport, Mr Gerbic. He chaired a meeting of the Defensive Driving Trust, formed to buy the title and good-will in the courses from the Defensive Driving Council. “A loan Of $200,000 from the Accident Compensation Corporation will allow the Trust to purchase the rights and some essential course materials for instructors,” Mr Ger-
bic said. Once payment has been made to the solicitor for the Defensive Driving Council, the courses would be able to resume under new agreements with the trust. He said the trust would reconvene to discuss the franchising of the course and the levels of fees required under franchise agreements. “The trust is moving as quickly as possible to protect the interests and involvement of course Instructors and students,” Mr Gerbic.
