A.I.S. being sued
NZPA Sydney Three former weightlifters are suing the Australian Institute of Sport, alleging institute staff gave them anabolic steroids which had caused them permanent physical damage. The Canberra-based institute yesterday issued a brief statement, saying there had been some “speculative allegations” against the A. 1.5., in relation to three former
weightlifters starting legal proceedings against the A.I.S. The writs were served on the institute’s solicitors on Monday. “The Utters have claimed in their action that they suffered permanent injury and damage while scholarship holders in 1983 and 1984,” the statement said. As these matters were now before the court, the institute declined further comment.
