Duties include tissue culture of human blood, lymphocytes, amniotic fluid cells, bone marrow and other tissues to produce chromosome preparations, ano their subsequent staining, microscopic analysis, interpretation and reporting. There is a high level of individual responsibility in all aspects of the work. An appointee who does not hold certificate and specialist level qualifications in Cytogenetics would be expected to obtain them.
