Unions eye own radio station
PA Auckland The Auckland trade union movement wants its own radio station and has asked the Broadcasting Tribunal to consider a late warrant application. The Auckland Trades Council president, Mr Bill Andersen, said the station (would not preach unionism all day, but seek to give accurate news reports, educational programmes and popular music. Either an AM or FM warrant would be sought through the Northern Distribution Workers’ Union. Money to set up the station would come from a number of unions.
