Prendergast leading trainer
The Chertsey trainer, Dick Prendergast, won a new continental sulky for being the leading trainer over the two days and two nights of the New Zealand Cup meeting, which ended on Saturday. Prendergast gained 12 of his 14 points with three wins during the meeting by his Dominion Handicap winner, Simon Katz (the first trotter to win the three feature trots at the meeting since the introduction of the New Zealand Free-For-All ■in 1947), with the remainder being made up with Light Foyle’s second on Show Day. Clevedon’s Roy and Barry Purdon, and Ashburton’s Pat O’Reilly, were the runner-ups with 12 points apiece.
