They will also be involved In the processes of manufacturing of some raw materials and in the conversion process after printing. PLASTICS APPRENTICESHIP x Requirements: — Physics, Mathematics, English and Chemistry to 6th Form/UE level — Mechanical aptitude The person will be trained in Extrusion (the manufacture of raw materials) and also the conversion process after printing. Time will be spent in oUr . engineering workshop as a number of hours work experience is required in fitting and turning. LITHOGRAPHIC PRINTING ? 7, Requirements: — English, Mathematics and Woodwork/Metalwork to School Certificate level (minimum) — Mechanical aptitude : — Interest in Graphic Arts , — Normal colour vision essential . The person will be trained on Offset Lithographic machines in our Carton and Box Division. You must be self-disciplined and adult apprenticeships will be considered. CUTTING AND CREASING Requirements: — English, Mathematics and Technical Drawlng to School Certificate level (minimum) — Mechanical abilities — Aptitude for detail The person will be trained to set up and operate the machines which cut and crease cardboard into various shapes of cardboard boxes. This is an important part of the converting process as the success of the cutting and creasing determines the success of the making up of the boxes at later stages. You will also be introduced to other processes of converting which are applied to cutting and creasing. Adult apprenticeships will be considered. The apprenticeships are for 8000 hours (approximately 4 years) and Include three examinations which, when passed, give credits in hours, effectively reducing the term served to just over three years.
