The Society haa a very important role in the Now Zealand accounting profeaalon to foster effective financial management in the community, control and regulate accounting standards, and develop the akllle and Internets of its members. The successful candidate will direct research to these objectives In a most demanding period caused by the interaction of complex economic and social forces. This is a fine opportunity to bring about positive change. The person will be responsible for the planning, budgeting, staffing and the development of the Reaearcn Divialon; provide research leadership; and direct the servicing of activities such as the Accounting Standards Board and specific research committeea. Backup aupport cervices of secretarial, publications and library functions are available. \ The present encumbent has been on secondment from a New Zealand university, with full protection of employment rights. A similar arrangement may bo negotiable. Location is in the Capital City/Wellington. The commencement date will be May 1988. REQUIREMENTS: • An indepth knowledge of financial accounting theory and practice • An ability and interest to significantly contribute to accounting atandards. • Ability to provide Imaginative research leadership. • An appreciation of international accounting developments. • Ability to plan, co-ordinate and organise research developments. • The successful candidate la likely to hold a senior position in a University Commerce faculty or be a Technical Manager/Partner in a Chartered Accountancy firm.
