The Board, which services nearly 5 000 square kilometres of inland Central and Northern Taranaki, is headquartered in Eltham with a small number of outlying offices and agencies. Total staffing is around 110 people. The community of Eltham (2 500 people) offers a relaxed and recreational lifestyle in a throroughly pleasant country environment. Reporting to and understudying the Board’s Secretary-Treasurer, the appointee will assimilate and progressively assume responsibility for all accounting, internal control and systems improvement, DP enhancement and the general administrative and stores functions. Broader secretarial aspects will include managing the Board’s insurances, various public relations activities, staff training and deputising for the Secretary-Treasurer as required (the latter due to retire in about two years). The appointee must be a qualified accountant with sufficient accounting/ administrative experience to competently handle the varied functions required. Age is relatively flexible out the ability to project maturely and the motivation to advance is critical. Housing is provided at very low rental and a contribution to removal expenses is available for someone relocating.
