Roaming dogs
Sir,—A number of citizens have been voicing their concerns about dog excreta in public places. As naature takes care of these undesirable by-products relatively quickly, the effects of same need only be temporary. However, the issue I am addressing is not able to be rectified by nature and is very much an ongoing problem. Why Is it that so many dog owners allow their pets to roam freely about the streets? Aside frpm the safety of small children and, indeed, all people in public places, is not the welfare of their beloved canine companions of importance to them? A growing number of dog owners neglect their pets in various ways; this is only the tip' of the iceberg. It is very sad, but aspects of this tend to reflect society in generaL — Yours, etc., D. J. S.
