Prosecution pending

PA ’Wellington Wellington Harbour Board will decide within two weeks whether it will prosecute Mobil Oil for an oil spillage in Wellington Harbour, the board’s manager, Mr Griff Page, said yesterday. The spillage occurred on Friday afternoon and clean-up work involved a helicoper and tugs spraying detergent to disperse the oil. Mr Page said it was board policy to prosecute if it knew who was re-

sponsible. “But' we have got to have , all, the facts before we make such a move and , reports are still coming in,” he said. Mobil’s publicaffairs manager, Mr Graeme Connell, said between 1400 and 2100 litres of oil escaped from a small valve during recommissioning of a bunker fuel line. Mr Page said a small amount of oil had escaped to the shore and work continued yesterday to clean it up.
