Iran ready to help free hostages
NZPA-Reuter. New York The Iranian President, Ali Khamenei, said on Wednesday that his country was prepared to do what it could to secure the release of hostages being held in Lebanon. “We are ready, from a humanitarian point of view to do anything we can,” he told a news conference.
“But you must note that Lebanon is not a province
of Iran. It. has a suppressed, aggrieved people. It is not likely that they do whatever we want. “There have been certain cases that certain groups, on the basis of their respect and affection for us, have done certain things. This can also happen . in the future,” he added, alluding to Lebanese groups influenced by Iran’s revolutionary Government.
