Golf lead tied
Dennis Clarke and lan Smalley overcame the windy conditions to shoot par 73s and tie for first place in the Weedons proam golf tournament yesterday. Clarke, of New Plymouth, and Smalley, of Auckland, shared first and second prize money in the $5OOO event They finished two strokes ahead of Gary Parkinson (Auckland), with Geoff Clarke (Alexandra) a further shot back on 76. Geoff Clarke won the
event last year with a 69. The series continues at \ Templeton today with the final tournament at Rawhiti tomorrow.
Leading professional scores yesterday were:— 73—1. Smalley, D. Clark. 75—G. Parkinson. 76—G. Clarke. 77— Jeremy Phillips, Stuart Rees. Leading amateur scores were:— 75 —Roy McClaughlln (Russley). 76—Mike Williams (Akaroa). 79—Warren Houghton (Weedons), Adrian Sisson (Richmond HUI).
