Douglas keeps title
Liz Douglas served notice of her readiness to oppose golfers from Australia, Britain and Canada next month when she easily retained her Christchurch club’s senior championship at Shirley yesterday. Douglas, the only Canterbury member of the New Zealand women’s team to compete in the Commonwealth
tournament on the course from October 22 to 24,. beat her regular foursomes partner, Maryanne Stemmer, 10 and 8, in the 36-hole final. The intermediate title was won by Isobel Suckling who beat Patti Hutchinson, 2 and 1, while Elaine Hodgkinson won the junior final from Claire McManus, 1 up.
