Meeting abandoned
PA Invercargill The Southland Racing Club has been forced to abandon its spring meeting at Invercargill tomorrow.
Continued wet weather has left the Ascot Park course in a waterlogged state and unsafe for racing. The club’s president, Tom Hogan, said the de-
cision to abandon was the only course of action left to the club. The abandonment was announced after consultations with the chief stipendiary steward, Jock McCulloch, who travelled from Dunedin to inspect the track yesterday morning.
The club is to seek an alternative date later in the season.
