Auckland R.C. loss
PA Auckland The Auckland Racing Club has reported a loss of $267,837 for last season. In the previous year the club made a profit of $148,350. The annual report attributes the loss to such factors as significant stake increases and the re-
development of the Ellerslie course. Stakes offered by the club rose 39 per cent. The amount received in sponsorship rose to $1,065,909 from $560,325. Racing Authority stakes subsidies were up to $1,485,400, from $946,225, leaving the club to meet, itself, the balance of $258,103.
