Bugner puts price on showdown
NZPA-AFP London Joe Bugner wants £450,000 <51,201,500) to meet Frank Bruno in a London boxing showdown — with the winner going on to fight the undisputed world champion, Mike Tyson. The snooker manager, Bany Hearn, now in partnership with Bruno’s manager, Terry Lawless, sent a message to the Australian promoter, Bill Mordey, but
Bugner said he wanted to see the money first. “Until they put their money where their mouth is I can’t take it seriously,” said the former British champion, aged 37, who emigrated a number of years ago. "Bruno’s people have been avoiding me for over five years and I’ve been hearing a lot of nonsense.” • Jim Jacobs, joint manager of Mike Tyson, dismissed
as "complete nonsense” a SUSlOmillion offer for the undisputed world heavyweight champion to fight Michael Spinks next year. Mr Jacobs said that he would Ignore the offer made 24 hours earlier by Spinks’s manager and promoter, Butch Lewis, for the unbeaten Tyson, aged 21, to defend all three of his world titles against Spinks next May.
