Death sentence
Sir,—Regarding the heading “Majority favour death for murder" (September 19), this would be more appropriately titled “Majority of men favour death for murder.” Notice that 3 per cent more women actually rejected the idea of the death penalty for murder. However, this was referred to in the article as a “more evenly divided result” In fact the total percentage in agreement (both sexes) had a 3 per cent difference in favour of “yes.” Perhaps the heading should have been “A more evenly divided result on capital punishment opinion poll.” — Yours, etc., C.
