The day in Parliament
PA Wellington Parliament sat yesterday at 7.30 pm. Mr P. T. E. Woollaston (Lab., Nelson) swore an affirmation of allegiance to the Crown. The Speaker, Mr Burke, advised the House of the death on August 13 of Ethel McMillan, member of Parliament for North Dunedin from 1953 to 1963 and for Dunedin
North from 1963 to 1975. Sympathy was expressed and members stood silently in remembrance. Mr Harry Duynhovea (Lab., New Plymouth) moved that Parliament make an Address in Reply to the Gover-nor-General’s Speech from the Rhrone at the State Opening of Parliament He was seconded by Ms Jenny Kirk (Lab., Birkenhead). The House adjourned at 8.37 p.m. until 7.30 p.m. today.
