Suter sponsor

Embroidery is the latest medium to benefit from corporate art sponsorship arranged by the Suter Art Gallery in Nelson.

The gallery will cooperate with Coats Paton New Zealand and the Association of New Zealand Embroiderers’ Guilds to fund a > national embroidery award. Specifically to encourage innovation and experiment, the award wiU offer three prizes.

Austin Davies, Anne Wilcox, of the Nelson Embroiderers’ Guild, Beverley Shore-Bennett, an artist and craftsperson, and Kath Des Forges, president of the Association of New Zealand Embroiderers’ Guilds.

Anyone wishing to be considered for selection should submit colour photographs or slides of their work.

Those chosen to exhibit may submit works which include such materials as wire, metal, plastic, flax, glass and wood, although stitchery, fibre and fabrics should be the main materials.
