Angus, Hereford bull sale
Angus bulls averaged $1835 (compared with $1450 last year) and Herefords sold for an average of $1343 ($1240 last year) at the Christchurch Angus and Hereford bull sale yesterday. Twenty-four bulls were sold and 10 passed. The cattle were well-grown and presented in good order. The top price was $3BOO for an Angus from S. L. and B. E.
Chambers, of Southbridge, bought by D. O. Masefield, Banks Peninsula. S. L. and B. E. Chambers sold a second bull at $2750.
Two Angus bulls from R. D. and G. W. Gould, Amberley, averaged $l2OO, two from Mrs J. M. F. Gould, West Melton, averaged $lBOO, two from C. S. Stringer and Sons, Whitecliffs, averaged $1550, and two from Beechcroft
Stud, Southbridge, averaged $1350. Among Hereford sales were nine bulls from M. G. and J. K. Gould, Rotherham, which averaged $1289, two from I. C. Ford, Sefton, at an average of $l2OO, 1 from J. H. Cooke, Lake Coleridge, at $2OOO, and two from J. P. and H. S. Cooke, Lake Coleridge, at an average of $l4OO.
