New judge appointed
-PA Wellington Mr Bryce Edward Buckton has been appointed a District Court judge in Napier, said the Minister of Justice, Mr Palmer.
Judge Buckton was admitted as a solicitor in 1968 and as a barrister a
year later. A partner in Beyer Christie and Company for seven years, Judge Buckton then became a sole
practitioner in Wellington in 1977. Judge Buckton was a former president of the Wellington District Law Society, a council member of the New Zealand District Law Society, a member of the Prosecution Panel in Wellington, and had been a member and chairman of the Wellington District Legal Aid Committee, Mr Palmer said.
