Canty regains Rosebowl
Canterbury secured a narrow 13-11 win against Otago to regain the Jarvis Rosebowl table tennis trophy at the Selwyn Street stadium during the week-end. The Canterbury women carried the day with a resounding 10-2 win.
The Canterbury men won only three of their nine games in the annual competition. Karl Entwistle played well, winning two singles matches.
The veteran, Thelma May, played with determination. She won all of
her singles. Pam Shadbolt and Debbie Tipper supported her well, each succumbing only to Otago’s Jenny Lawn.
The Samson Shield, played over all grades, was won easily by Canterbury, 91-44.
