Three versions of ‘Mudbug’
Three versions of the Suzuki Mudbug motorcycle are proving a farming success story in New Zealand.
The three Mudbugs — available in 4-stroke (DFI2S) and 2-stroke (TFIOO and TFIBS) — are purpose-built for farm use.
While the basic construction is similar to a conventional trail bike, the extra farm features have given the models
high appeal to the New Zealand farmer. A wide, comfortable, single seat is standard, and allows room for a large and solid rear carrier with tool box attached. The front carrier incorporates a headlight protector, and there are strong metal hand guards. Gearing is chosen for farm conditions and can be altered easily by fitting’ one of a wide range of sprockets.
Both the TFIOO and TFIBS include the patented Suzuki CCI oil injection system pioneered by Suzuki in the sixties. This has become so refined that the spark plug fouling problem which once plagued many 2-stroke engines is now a thing of the past. The 4-stroke DFI2S Mudbug has won appeal for its compact dimen-
sions, ease of handling and reliability. This model has the fully-floating single shock absorber rear suspension. With the extra-low-down torque of the 4stroke engine, the DFI2S is particularly suited to rough, hilly farm terrain. In other respects, the version carries the same equipment as its 2-stroke cousins.
