‘Clumsy’ robbery

PA Auckland A Manurewa man robbed a South Auckand post office without a getaway car or anything to put his money in, the High Court in Auckland was told.

Roy Jerry Andrews, aged 18, who appeared for sentence had earlier admitted a charge of aggravated robbery, taking $4633 from the Homai Post Office in Manurewa.

Although Andrews had a previous conviction for aggravated robbery, the Homai raid was not preplanned, Mr Field said.

Mr Justice Jeffries said he took into account Andrews’ age, his plea of guilty, and his “mental imbalance” and sentenced him to four years jail.
