'Importance of farming’
New agricultural policies announced yesterday by the Minister of Agriculture, Mr Moyle, showed the Government’s recognition of the importance of the farming industry to New Zealand, said the Labour Party’s candidate for Rangiora, Mr Chris Constable, last evening.
“The new measures announced by Mr Moyle will be viewed with surprise by farmers who thought that this Government was only interested in kicking them while they were down,” Mr Constable said. "In fact the agreement reached to place greater flexibility into agricultural policies shows a Government recognition of farming as the greatest New Zealand industry and the country’s single biggest export earner.”
