Takitimu Vance ready to win again

Auckland The promising four-year-old, Takitimu Vance, looks ready to make it four wins on end in the first leg of the T.A.B double at the Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting at Alexandra Park tomorrow. Takitimu Vance has gained his hattrick of wins in the style of a very good horse.

His latest victory was at Alexandra Park last Friday. With less than 200 m to run Takitimu Vance looked far from a winning chance. The Vance Hanover gelding, however, found something extra to run down the favourite and pacemaker, Smooth Jack, just short of the post. Takitimu Vance has been handicapped for that success and will start from 10m behind in the Bailey’s Irish Cream Handicap Pace. Smooth Jack, which looked to have last week’s race in safe keeping, is again

a rival. The Smooth Fella four-year-old has been racing well lately and is due for a win.

The former South Island pacer, Kathy’s Cobber, also deserves respect as he has won three times from his last four starts for his Cambridge trainer, Charlie Hunter.

Sharlene’s Pride, Hayburner and Robindale Lord will also command support in the 2700 m event. Although a last-start failure, Master Michael could well redeem himself in the scond leg of the T.A.B. double, the Black Heart Rum Mobile Pace.

He is drawn handily at four and could test the more favoured runners, Flash Bromac, Belle Jane and Worthy Satisfaction.

Belle Jane, second in her previous two starts, looks to be the best prospect out of the three. She has drawn well and will be driven by the in-form reinsman, Mark Purdon.
