European campaign
PA Auckland Vandenberg, Ipah and Pucanto, maiden jumpers in Graeme Rogerson’s stable, are to race in West Germany next month and early September. They will be ridden by the Matamata jockey, Brett McDonald. The trio will then go on to England for racing under the ownership of Mr Pat Samuels, a New Zealander who lives
abroad, usually in Spain. An ardent jumping enthusiast, he has bought many New Zealand horses to race overseas. Rogerson said the horses will be in the care of his foreman, Keith Hawtin, who last year took Jean Rapier to the United States for jumps races. The trio will spend three days in quarantine before being flown to Frankfurt on August 14.
