Black week for Aust.?
NZPA-AAP Brisbane Australian rugby league coach, Don Furner, predicted a black week for Australian football after Tuesday night’s 6-13 loss to New Zealand at Lang Park. The world champion, Australia, was humbled by a youthful and inexperienced New Zealand side which took little notice of the reputation the Kangaroos had built for themselves. “This could be the start of a bad week for Australian football," said Mr
Furner whose comments were on the prospects of New Zealand making a clean sweep of Australia in two vital football clashes this week. The trans-Tasman rivalry will be on again in earnest on Saturday at Concord Oval when Australia defends the rugby union Bledisloe Cup. “New Zealand has to be favourite for that clash," said Mr Furner. “You never know, though, we were favourites and world champions ... and lost.”
