Germans win fencing
NZPA-Reuter Lausanne, Switzerland West Germany, spurred by Mathias Gey, produced a dazzling display to win the men’s foil title in the world fencing championships at Laussanne yesterday, easily beating France, 9-4, in the final. Gey led the dominant West German team to a quick 3-0 lead and victory was never in question. Gey was celebrating his third world title, after winning the individual and joining in another team title four years ago. The West German gave up only five hits while striking 24 times in two days of competition.
