Impaled man recovering
PA Tauranga The Katikati farmer who suffered serious injuries when he was impaled by a water pipe was improving in Tauranga Hospital’s intensive-care unit yesterday. Mr George Knyvett, aged 31, was now off a respirator. He was driving across a paddock on Sunday when
he ran over the pipe. The pipe pushed through the floor of his car, speared him in the stomach and pushed him out through the back window. Mr Knyvett walked 450 metres for help after the accident. He suffered extensive abdominal injuries. The pipe shaved his diaphragm, a lung and a kidney.
