Canterbury was on the move this week as a 1200-square-foot relief model of the region was
inched by Sergeant Les Ball (left) and Mr Clem Boyd into its new home at the Royal New Zea-
land Air Force museum at Wigram. The model was moved from its former home at the Canterbury Museum this week. Constructed from concrete and plaster for the 1940 New Zealand Centennial Exhibition, the model was built by staff at the Public Works Department, Temuka. It was later presented to the museum by the Government. The 18 six-foot-square, blocks that make up the model, show a detailed view of Canterbury as it would appear from 3600 m. It will be used to provide a backdrop for displays of flying and aviation equipment at Wigram. The area previously filled by. the map at the museum will be used to house new displays.
