Social education

Sir,—To publicly declare that Christianity must be divorced from the violence of Christendom and the Old Testament is as farcical, dishonest and unacceptable as the accompanying insinuation that evil cometh only from non-Christian sources. As for the “unique" moral integrity of Christ, let the following “saviiours” who were also crucified to atone for the sins of mankind, “speak” for themselves: Atys 1170 BC; Krishna 1200 BC; Hesus 834 BC; lao 622 BC; Indra 725 BC; Mithra 600 BC; Prometheus 547 BC; Thammuz 1160 BC; Thulis (Zulis) 1700 BC. The foregoing list is far from comprehensive but many of these “saviours” were claimed “Son of God,” of virgin birth and resurrected. There are at least 300 obvious similarities between Christ and Krishna alone, while many moral prescriptions claimed to be originals of Christ actually pre-date him by many centuries. The foregoing saviours are offered so that Christian correspondents may substantially further their “own” social education.—Yours, etc., : ARTHUR MAY. June 19, 1987.
