Ohau ski-field to open
The Ohau ski-field will be open this season. Last year’s ski season to Ohau was only 13 days gone when the field was wiped out' by an avalanche at the beginning of August. The big slide badly damaged both the T-bar and the platter lift and the field was closed.
There was speculation that the ski area would remain closed this winter but the manager, Mr Alex Hunter, said that Ohau would open for the season on July 24. Mr Hunter said the field would be used this season thanks to the support of the Lake Ohau
Lodge and the Lake Ohau Alpine Village principals. By the time the field — 49km from Omarama — opens, the T-bar and platter lift will have been improved. For the 1987 ski season an all-day lift pass for Ohau will cost $25 (up from $l9) with a road toll
