S.I. smallbore teams named
South Island smallbore rifle teams have been named for shoots against the North Island. The open grade and women's teams will shoot at Palmerston North during Queen's Birthday week-end. The junior teams will shoot separately at venues in each island, the South team shooting at Timaru. with the results to be exchanged by telephone. The South Island teams are:—

• Ashley beat Ashburton and Ellesmere in a representative shoot at Dunsandel. Two 10-man teams from each association contested the shoot. Ashley heading both the No. 1 and No. 2 team competitions and gaining most over-all points. The result gave Ashley the Denton Rosebowl, awarded for competition between Ashley and Ellesmere.
The aggregate scores were Ashley 3831.120, Ellesmere 3805.107, and Ashburton 3801.890.
