Mitsubishi appointment
The former general manager of Todd Motors, Ltd, the New Zealand privately owned Mitsubishi franchise holder and local ssembler that on May 1 was taken over by Mitsubishi and is now known as Mitsubishi New Zealand, Ltd, Denford McDonald has been named managing director. His deputy is Takeshi Tanaka, who has transferred from the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation of Japan.
Other board members include the former managing director, John Todd, taxation consultant, Malcolm McCaw, and economist, Rob Campbell.
Other members of the eight-man board have yet
to be named. Mitsubishi has taken over the assembly plant and administration facility at Todd Park, Porirua, the computerised parts warehouse at Wingate, Lower Hutt, and the Kirk Motors chain of Mitsubishi retail outlets.
The company intends to continue to operate the Porirua assembly plant and, in addition to domestic production, Mitsubishi Motors New Zealand, Ltd, will have direct involvement with Mitsubishi Motors Australia and hold equity positions in motor vehicle manufacturing companies in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea and Taiwan.
