Five raids on Chch chemists’ shops

A smash-and-grab raid at the Creyke Road Pharmacy early yesterday brought up to a total of five raids on Christchurch chemists’ shops in the last two weeks. Codeine-based drugs were taken each time. The latest raid occurred at 2.30 a.m. It was the second time in a fortnight that the Creyke Road Pharmacy has been raided. Detective Senior-Ser-geant Colin Dalzell said

the drugs were grabbed from shelves during each raid. The chemists* shop burglaries were probably linked to a burglary at the S.P.C.A. home in Wilmers Road, Sockburn, on Wednesday night. Four 2.5-litre bottles of chloroform were taken. Detective Senior-Ser-geant Dalzell said the codeine-based drugs and chloroform could both be used in the manufacture of homebake drugs.
