Teenagers killed in collision
Two teenagers were killed and two other person seriously injured in a car collision on State highway 1, south of Amberley, late last evening.
Senior-Sergeant Kevin Burrows, of the Christchurch police, said it appeared that a car travelling south had crossed the centre-line and collided with a vehicle heading north.
The two front-seat occupants in the southbound
car, a youth, aged 16, and a young woman, aged 19, were killed.
The rear-seat passenger suffered broken legs, cuts and lacerations, and was taken to Christchurch Hospital by the Rangiora St John ambulance. The male driver and sole occupant of the other vehicle suffered serious injuries and was also admitted to hospital. The accident happened about 10.30 p.m., about 3km south of Amberley township.
